How VCx Works
Do you have an interval meter to participate in Virtual Commissioning?
- If yes, you are immediately eligible to pursue VCx if there is at least 12 months' worth of available data to analyze. Contact Energy Advisor Services for information on how to participate.
- If you don't already have an interval meter, one of our Account Managers can work with you to get one installed. The installation cost is covered by Potomac Edison's Energy Solution for Business Program.
- Utility meter data analysis: A remote analysis provides insight to understand energy usage at your facility to identify unexpected and wasted usage.
- Personalized recommendations: With guidance through ongoing communication and discussions with a trained energy advisor, you'll receive recommendations for your facility that are easy to implement and are low or no additional cost. This includes real-time evaluation of energy efficiency improvements bundled with whole-building strategies.
- Virtually delivered: No on-site visits or in-person audits required. You'll communicate with your energy advisor virtually and remotely by email or phone.
- Measured results: See the impact of your improvements. Your dedicated energy advisor will measure and verify the energy-savings impacts.
Example Meter Data
An interval meter measures electricity use every 15 minutes. This helps customers and the utility understand daily energy patterns, find opportunities to reduce waste and better manage energy costs.

What to Expect
If the remote analysis of your meter data confirms that you may benefit from VCx, an energy advisor will contact you to discuss further and provide recommendations based on your facility’s unique energy usage and your business’s priorities.
