Local Metal Products Company Becomes More Efficient with Incentives from Potomac Edison
The check comes at the culmination of extensive lighting upgrades to the Hagerstown business, founded in 1996 by lifelong steel industry worker John Talley. Potomac Edison’s Energy Solutions for Business Program offers rebates to its commercial and industrial customers in Maryland for upgrading to more energy-efficient equipment.
The Talley Metals facility underwent a complete interior and exterior lighting retrofit, from office LED upgrades to the installation of more efficient workshop lighting, which will improve working conditions and lower monthly costs.
The project’s completion comes thanks to Williamsport-based Program Ally, City Electric Supply, who completed an assessment of the facility, suggested lighting upgrades and worked with bulb manufacturers to find the proper bulb to achieve the desired improvement in brightness. Program Allies work directly with Maryland customers of Potomac Edison to plan and implement their energy efficiency projects.
The upgrades are expected to save Talley – a first-year program participant – more than 52,000 kilowatt-hourse (kWh) per year. That’s equivalent to the energy used to power the average Maryland home for more than four years.
“The improvements we’ve made have resulted in increased productivity,” said company President John Talley. “Our employees are beyond pleased with the increases in the lighting around the office that have made reading blueprints and paper materials easier for them.”
