LaVale Comfort Inn & Suites Saves Big by Combining Energy Efficiency Upgrades
Using the incentives from Potomac Edison, the LaVale Comfort Inn was able to replace lighting fixtures in the hotel’s lobby, pool area, hallways, guest rooms, gym, parking lot and wall packs, saving the business $7,430 per year in energy costs. Additionally, the hotel was able to install 67 wall-mounted thermostats that use built-in occupancy sensors to automatically set back the temperature in unoccupied guest rooms in order to reduce HVAC heating and cooling runtimes.
In total, the projects resulted in annual energy savings of 145,816 kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is equivalent to powering 22 average Maryland homes for more than an entire year. Most importantly, the hotel will save more than $7,000 in annual energy costs.
“When I heard about the rebates and all the other benefits on top of saving money, the decision to upgrade was easy,” said Rune Andreassen, General Manager.
